무디 블루스(Moody Blues)는 비틀즈의 열풍이 일던 1964년, 영국의 공업도시 버밍엄에서 시작되었다. 마이클 파인더(키보드), 레이 토마스(Ray Thomas/ 플룻, 색소폰)를 주축으로 훗날 폴 메카트니 & 윙즈(Paul McCartney & Wings)의 멤버가 되는 데니 레인(Denny Laine/기타, 보컬), 그레엄 에지(Graeme Edge/드럼), 클린트 워윅(Clint Warwick/베이스, 보컬)의 다섯 젊은이들이 음악으로 뭉친 것이 무디 블루스의 시작이다.  제일 POP스러운 곡을 많이 불렀던 밴드다.  무디 블루스의 생동감 넘치는 연주와 노래 그들은 자신들만의 개성적인 음악적 컬러로 대중성과 작품성을 적절히 융화시킨 사운드를 구사하는 그룹이다.
