파리의 비 내리는 밤

파리의 비 내리는 밤
항구의 불빛들은 침침해
그는 파리에 사랑을 두고 떠나야 해
겨울눈이 내리기 전에

파리의 한 쓸쓸한 거리에서
그는 그녀를 꼭 안고 말했지
“우리 파리에서 다시 만나요.
샹젤리제 거리에 꽃들이
피어날 때.”

“얼마나 오래” 그녀가 물었지 "얼마나 오래,
그리고 당신 사랑이 그렇게 강할까요?”
바다 건너 멀리 떨어져 있어도,
당신 가슴이 날 기억할까요?”

 
그리곤 그녀는 겨울밤이 길게 느껴질 때
되뇌어보라고 몇 마디 말을 가르쳐줬지

"그러면" 그녀가 말했지. “그러면
우리 사랑이 다시 자라날 거예요.”
아, 하지만 그녀 두 눈에서 그는 보게 되지
그녀의 사랑 얘긴 다 그저 듣기 좋으라고
하는 말이라는 걸

그리고 이제 파리의 불빛들이
점점 희미해지며 사라져 버리지
그런 파리의 불빛들 보며 난 알게 되지
다시는 그녀를 보지 못하리라는 걸...

He must leave his love in Paris

On a lonely street in Paris

on the Champs-elysees."

 Then she gave him words to turn to,
When the winter nights were long,

Avec les couleurs du printemps."

"And then", she said "and then,
Our love will grow again."
Ah but in her eyes he sees
Her words of love are only words
to please

And now the lights of Paris
Grow dim and fade away,
And I know by the light of Paris
I will never see her again...
