영국 출신 5인조 헤비메틀 그룹 주다스 프리스트(Judas Priest)는 영국 버밍햄에서 결성하고 끊임없이 중금속의 헤비 사운드를 고집하며 헤비메탈 사운드를 창시했고, 융성하게 했으며, 그들의 차갑게 내뱉는 금속성의 보컬과 예리한 트윈 기타 시스템은 헤비메탈의 원형이었으며 수많은 후배들의 모델이 되었던 브리티시 헤비메탈 보컬과 사운드의 교과서 주다스 프리스트는 1971년 블랙 사바스를 배출하고 잦은 멤버 교체속에서도 헤비메탈의 폭발력과 아트 록의 아름다움을 절묘하게 조화시킨 음반으로 수작들을 양산해내며 황금기를 맞았다. 자국뿐 아니라 1977년부터 미국에서 Led Zeppelin과 함께 라이브 활동을 펼치면서 놀라운 성과를 올렸는데 1990년대에 접어들어 모던 록의 대대적인 공세에 흔들리는 모습을 노출했지만 ,  2001년 다시 'Demolition'을 공개해 열혈 팬들의 사랑을 받고 있다. 헤비메털의 교과서 강렬한 음악과 함께 이들의 유일한 발라드로 국내에서 많은 사랑을 받았던 곡 '비포 더 돈(Before The Dawn)' 같은 서정적인 곡도 인기를 끌었다.
