 브리트니 스피어스(Britney Spears)는 1981년 미국 출생으로 팝의 요정으로 '롤링스톤'이 선정한 '99년의 얼굴'에 뽑히는 등 팝 시장을 강타한 '브리트니 스피어스 신드롬'이  1999년 발매된 'Baby one More Time" 은 빌보드 2주간 올랐으며 1999년 각종 음악 시상식에서 상을 휩쓸었으며, 데뷔앨범은 미국내 1300만장, 전세계적으로 2300만장이라는 엄청난 판매고를 올렸다. 이후에도 브리트니는 내는 앨범마다 빌보드 앨범 차트 1위 석권은 물론, 판매고 또한 수백만 장을 쉽게 넘기는 기염을 반복했다. 침체되어 있던 90년대 팝 시장을 '쥐고 흔든' 당찬 17살 소녀는 미국 틴 팝(Teen-Pop) 르네상스의 도래 였다.
