Scorpions 

 

스콜피온스(Scorpions)는 독일이 낳은 록 헤비메탈 밴드로 영국을 제외한 유럽 밴드 중에서 헤비메탈 역사상 가장 큰 성공을 이룬 기타리스트인 루돌프 쉥커(Rudolf Schenker)를 중심으로 결성된 남성 출신의 남성 5인조 하드록 밴드이다. 기타리스트인 루돌프 생커(Rudolf Schenker)와 클라우스 마이네(Klause Meine)가 주축이 되어 정비된 라인없으로 1969년 모여 결성하였고, 71년 결성된 스콜피온스는 현재 마티아스 얍스(Matthias Jabs, guitar), 후렌시스 브콜즈(Francis Buckholz, bass), 힐맨 라레벨(Herman Rarebell)으로 음악 스타일로는 본 조비(Bon Jovi)나 데프 레파드(Def Leppard)와 성격을 같이한다고 평가받은 그들은 영화 'The Cold Paradise'의 사운드트랙 앨범인 'Lonesome Crow'(1972)였다. 그 후 그들은 전 세계적으로 엄청난 음반판매 기록으로 독일 출신으로는 가장 성공한 하드 록 밴드이기도 했다. 잠시 침체했지만, 여전히 세계 정상의 베를린필 하모닉 오케스트라와 크로스 오버 음반을 협연하기도 했으며 꾸준히 라이브 무대를 갖는 등 왕성한 활동을 펼쳐 지금도 그들만의사운드와 애잔한 허스키 보이스의 절규하는 듯한 창법에 아직 많은 사랑을 받고 있다.
