Sting
스팅(Sting)은 1951년생으로 영국의 가수이자 작곡가, 박애주의자, 배우이다. 1984년 자신이 활동하던 그룹인 폴리스(The Police)를 해체하고 솔로로 활동을 시작하였고 재즈와 클래식을 비롯한 월드 뮤직을 두루 섭렵하며 넓은 음악성을 익혀 왔고, 철학적이고 또한 문학적 소양이 뛰어나 16개의 그래미 상을 받은 사람으로 록엔 롤 명예의 전당 , 작곡가 명예의 전당에 올라 있는 사람이다. 그는 초기에 지역 재즈 밴드 ' phoenex jazzmen, the newcasle Big Band , 그리고 Last Exit ' 에서 연주를 시작했는데 그 밴드중 하나인 Phoenex jazzmen 밴드에서 활동중 검은색에 노랑 띠를 두른 스웨터를 입고 연주를 하였다. 그때 그 밴드의 리더인 고든이 그 모습을 보고 말벌 같다 하여 " Sting " 이라 불렀고 그것이 그의 이름이 되었다. 그의 심층성 있는 가사로 대중들에게 어필하는 아티스트로도 많이 알려져있으며, 이를 바탕으로 평론가와 팝 대중들로부터 고루 존경받는 음악 활동을 펼쳐오고 있다. 이 곡은 스팅(Sting)의 솔로 데뷔 앨범 <The Dream Of The Blue Turtles>에 수록된 곡으로 미국 3위, 영국 26위에 올랐다.
