리키 마틴 (Ricky Martin)은 카리브 해의 '푸에르토리코' 수도인 '산 후안'에서 1971년 출생한  가수, 배우, 그리고 저자이다. 그는 12살 일때 1984년 라틴계 아이돌 그룹 ‘메누도(Menudo)’로 데뷔한 리키 마틴은 1998년 프랑스 월드컵 주제가 ‘더 컵 오브 라이프’, 빌보드 싱글 차트 4주 연속 1위 곡 ‘리빙 라 비다 로카’, 크리스티나 아길레라와 함께 한 ‘노바디 원츠 투 비 론리’ 등을 히트시켰다  1999년 라틴 음악 열풍의 주역에서  춤, 잘생긴 외모로  ‘리빙 라 비다 로카’를 히트해 ‘라틴 팝의 황제’라는 수식어가 붙었다. 그러나 그는  “내 음악에는 라틴뿐만 아니라 아프리카, 유럽, 인디언 음악 등이 다양하게 섞여 있어요. ‘라틴 음악만 할 줄 아는 가수’로 남기는 싫었다고 했다.
